Even as you step in the door you can already tell that there is a story to be told. If sense of smell is a sense of memory, Pomeroy?s cater to just that. Vases of fresh flowers and the smell of home cooking add to the atmosphere of a cosy lounge that keeps you coming back for more.
Recently declared a No.1 heritage site, inner city history is alive and well and living at Pomeroy?s. Originally the official Wards Brewery, brewing traditions established in the mid-nineteenth century are continued into the twenty-first by presenting patrons with prize-winning beers and wines of local and international renown. A site rich in history is maintained within the walls of Pomeroy?s. The horse bays where grain was delivered and stored still remain, the office? where once records were kept, is now a library lined with books and references to early Christchurch, and eclectic items of history cover the walls to provide interesting viewing while you enjoy one of the cleansing ales.
Family owned and operated, Steve and Victoria Pomeroy succeed in creating a warm and inviting environment. Victoria?s influence in the kitchen and flair for great tasting food ensures happy diners, while Steve?s eye for a good time and great tasting beer sees everyone enjoying themselves. ?Pom?s?, as it is affectionately known by the locals, is a cut above the rest.
Whether you are enjoying one of the locally brewed beers, wining and dining or maybe jet-setting on one of Steve?s exciting Wild Blue tours, step through the door at Pom?s were patrons are made to feel part of the Pomeroy?s family.
