Morepork Riverside Lodge

Our home is set in 1.6ha/4acres of native bush and gardens on the Waitangi River. We are conveniently located just outside Paihia on the way to Kerikeri - a great place from which to explore The Bay and the rest of Northland. A full breakfast is served in the Dining Room but if you're staying in the Riverview or Waitangi rooms you can enjoy a continental breakfast on your deck. Paul enjoys a good walk and he would be happy to take you on a morning walk through one of the local walking tracks. Meanwhile breakfast will be prepared so it's ready and waiting for you on your return.

Gourmet & Light evening meals are available most nights by prior arrangement. We take pride in serving locally produced sauces, pickles, preserves and jams whenever possible. We are still very much beginners but we try to grow some of our vegetables and fruit at Morepork Lodge. Others we buy at local road-side stalls or at the Bay of Islands Farmers Market.

Enjoy a quiet stroll through our native bush down to the Waitangi River at the bottom of our garden. There are many birds around Morepork Lodge including New Zealand's native owl, the Morepork (Ruru in Maori). Rest, read, or picnic on the rustic BBQ table while listening to the wildlife and the sound of the river. Walk through our small olive and citrus grove and on a little further to feed our friendly alpacas, sheep and goat grazing in the top paddock.

Although we are both born-and-bred Kiwi's we have travelled extensively throughout the Pacific and some parts of Europe. Of course we also enjoy travelling in New Zealand and would be happy to talk to you about our country.
