House Of Wood
We welcome you to our home, we hope you will spend a few days with us so you can explore and enjoy Fiordland by visiting our natural wonders at Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound, Te Anau Glow Worm Caves and our heritage walks being Milford Track, Kepler Track, Routeburn Track and Hollyford Track plus all our day walks and short walks. This area is called the ?Walking Capital of the World?.
We are happy to help you with booking your trips and most operators will collect from our gate. We are also happy to store your luggage while you are away walking the tracks or going on the overnight boats. You can also leave your car with us. We also have two mountain bikes so you can explore the area by bike and take some gentle exercise.
The House of Wood has 4 rooms - Tui Room, Takake Room, Kea Room & Fantail room.
There are two rooms with queen beds and ensuite, a twin/superking with ensuite and a room with a queen bed with private bathroom. The private bathroom is up some stairs but you would be the only guests to use it and we do supply bathrobes for guests use.
We serve a full breakfast consisting of fruit juice, fruit, choice 4 cereals, porridge (oatmeal) and yoghurt. Then guests can choose from eggs (cooked four ways) bacon, sausage, hash browns, tomatoes and baked beans, toast, coffee and a selection of teas.
The House of Wood is in a very quiet neighbourhood even though we are only a two minute walk through a walkway to cafes, restaurants, shops, supermarkets and post office.
At some parts of the year, our garden which is planted with native trees and shrubs is full of songs from the Tui and bellbird.
We hope you will come and experience the beauty of Fiordland with us. We also offer free Wifi so guests can check emails with own devices.
