The "Garden City" of Christchurch, New Zealand is as it's name implies an enchanting city of parks and gardens. In Spring the city comes alive with beautiful spring flowers coming into bloom; whilst in autumn the golden and russet brown colours through a completely different light on this magnificent city. A stroll through Hagley Park and the Botanic Gardens, with the Avon River meandering through it, is a great way to spend an afternoon.
Spend a couple of days doing a day tour, seeing some attractions, or taking a cruise to see the wildlife. Christchurch is a great place to base yourself for a day trip to Akaroa or Kaikoura. Whales, dolphins, seals, penguins and albatross are just some of the animals and birds that inhabit this coast.
