Tauranga, New Zealand

Tauranga is the most populous city in the Bay of Plenty area and the Maori inhabited this area back in the 13th century.  It was not until the early 19th century when the Europeans settled here and in 1963 it was recognized as a city.  The area has plenty of natural sights and locations to enjoy as well as a host of fun activities for all.  The wide variety of local fun is what really draws in more residents and tourists each year.

Things to do in Tauranga

One of the best places for outdoor family fun is Adrenalin Forest.  There are plenty of outdoor activities and, thanks to the natural surroundings; the air is fresh and clean.  The guides on site are trained and experienced.  Not only will they accompany you every step of the way but they will also provide important safety information and tips.

The Blokart Recreation Park brings you karting with a difference!  Not only do they use wind propelled karts but they also put safety first and ensure that everyone has a great time.  This is another family friendly activity.

If you've had enough fun and excitement, you can also make your way to the Omokoroa Thermal Holiday Park.  Give those muscles a good soak in the hot pools and get yourself ready for some more fun!

In addition to all the unique and exciting activities in the area, there are also facilities that offer paintball, archery and various other shooting activities.

Nature and the outdoors

Kaiate Falls is one of the top natural attractions in the area.  It's an easy walk that even younger children can manage.  The falls and pools are lovely to watch and many tourists take an extended break here to enjoy the sun and scenery.

Many visitors and locals often make their way over to Mayor Island.  Once there, you can enjoy a number of activities including camping, fishing and walks along some of the world's finest beaches.

A holiday in Tauranga is sure to feel like a true getaway.  If you live in a densely populated, urban area, the greenery, beaches and fresh air will be a welcomed change.  Whether you enjoy fast paced activities or something a little more relaxing, Tauranga will never disappoint!
