Heaphy Track Guided Walks, New Zealand
Heaphy Track is located in Kahurangi National Park, in the North Western corner of New Zealand's South Island. The route crosses from Aorere Valley, Golden Bay to Karamea on the west coast. The 82 km Heaphy Track Walk is a walk that sees great changes as you hike the track, passing through ancient beech forest, rugged mountains, with alpine tussock country limestone caves and thick rainforest. You will be amazed by the huge rata trees, and native nikau palms. There is a huge variety of flora and fauna; see a wide variety of native birds from kaka, kea, the rare whio, and if you are very lucky a native kiwi.
