Buried Village

A place of exceptional beauty has been created around the remains of a settlement destroyed by the eruption of Mt Tarawera in 1886. Te Wairoa village had been the place from which visitors set out on guided tours to view the 8th wonder of the world, the Pink and White Terraces; and many hundreds of objects excavated from the ruins.

Hells Gate and Wai Ora Spa

New Zealand's most active geothermal park, with boiling mud pools, a mud volcano and the southern hemispheres only hot water waterfall. With a raw and untouched beauty, Hells Gate prides itself on being interactive and personal. The Wai Ora Spa is New Zealands only geothermal mud bath experience and offers traditional Maori massage.

Hobbiton Movie Set Tours

Daily tours are available ex Matamata and Rotorua to visit the original Hobbiton movie set from The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The set has been returned to its natural state, however hobbit holes and some structures are still present. Sheep Farm Experience with sheep shearing demonstration, bottle feeding pet lambs, feeding pet sheep.
