Auckland - Waitomo - Rotorua - Napier - Wellington - Blenheim - Kaikoura - Christchurch

The Classic New Zealand Wine Trail is a deliciously indulgent road journey that puts pleasure first. As well as fantastic food and wine, it serves up all kinds of cultural and adventure experiences. You'll discover some of New Zealand's most scenic regions, including three major wine-growing areas on this New Zealand Wine Tour.

Day 1: Auckland - Waitomo - Rotorua

Travel south from Auckland to Waitomo Caves for lunch, a guided tour of the famous Glowworm Grotto and an underground boat ride to discover the wonders of the caves. Continue east to Rotorua. Tonight enjoy a Maori Hangi (feast) and concert. Stay 1 night in Rotorua.

Day 2: Rotorua - Taupo - Napier

This morning see roaring geysers and boiling mud pools at the thermal areas, tame trout at the springs and see performing sheep and dogs at the Agrodome. This afternoon travel to the picturesque lakeside town of Taupo, and continue onto Hawkes Bay and the art deco city of Napier. Tonight enjoy the Big Picture Wine experience.

Day 3: At Napier

Today Grape Escape Tours will take you on an afternoon tour of 4-5 local wineries with tastings of Merlot, Chadonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and some of New Zealand's finest cheeses matched with complimentary wine.

Day 4: Napier - Wellington

Today we journey south from Napier, to the capital city of Wellington, arriving early afternoon. The rest of your afternoon is at leisure.

Day 5: At Wellington

Today you set off on the Wairarapa Gourmet Wine Escape. Travelling by train to the Wairarapa region where you will visit the best vineyards in the region, including lunch at a vineyard or cafe. Return to your accommodation in the afternoon.

Day 6: At Wellington

Today enjoy the Zest Walking Gourmet Tour the best of the capital's specialist food stores, including tasting coffee, chocolate, cheeses and regional produce. Take a seat in a top Wellington restaurant or cafe and indulge in a light three course tasting lunch and matching New Zealand wines.

Day 7: Wellington - Picton - Blenheim

Cross Cook Strait by ferry, to the Marlborough Sounds and Picton. Upon arrival into Picton board the coach to travel onto Blenheim.

Day 8: At Blenheim

Today take an in-depth look at the Marlborough wine region. Interact with winemakers and a wine and food matched lunch at Allan Scott Winery. Visits include several wineries and the Makana Chocolate factory, which specialises in handmade chocolate. Lunch is included.

Day 9: Blenheim - Kaikoura

This morning board the TranzCoastal  train , which skims the spectacular coastline between the Kaikoura Ranges and the Pacific Ocean  This afternoon enjoy a Whale Watch excursion, the rest of your day is at leisure.  Stay 1 night in Kaikoura.

Day 10: Kaikoura - Christchurch

Today board the TranzCoastal Train and head south to Christchurch City. Upon arrival into Christchurch your tour will conclude.

Gold

Our hotels are centrally located and have a selection of restaurants and bars and other facilities expected in first class rooms.

Silver

These properties include a variety of international chain hotels and traditional New Zealand hotels or Motor Inns.  As with all our accommodations, they are centrally located and provide on site restaurants and bars and other facilities are maintained to high standard.

Bronze

You stay at centrally located hotels and motels. All properties are situated near amenities, shops, activities and coach stations/depots.

All Bronze, Silver, Gold accommodation includes

TV in room, telephone in room, ironing facilities, fridge in unit and breakfast available. Deluxe/Superior also includes room service and a licenced restaurant.
