NZ Humpridge Track - 2 days from Tuatapere

Instead of party pills the Tuatapere Hump Ridge Track in Southwest Fiordland National Park have followed Prime Minister Helen Clark's advice " people should get high on life and do a walk like the Hump Track ...." and launched an exciting new product which is proving to be very popular with adventurous amorous couples ..... the aptly named "Heli Hump".

Starting near Tuatapere take a helicopter flight along the south coast and up a stairway to hump heaven and the spectacular Okaka Lodge complex.

Stay in your own private room, with super king bed. A delicious hamper is provided, customers can "byo" supplies and cook them up in the lodge's kitchen or we can arrange a chef to cater for your fine dining needs.

Stunning views, privacy and unsurpassed sunrises what more could you want? It's not quite the mile high club but pretty close ( 890m / 2920 ft).

Enjoy a bit of timeout or a break from the kids with an exhilarating helicopter ride to an out of this world location without having to lift a finger!

Itinerary

Day 1: - Arrive at Tuatapere
Arrive in Tuatapere in the morning. Take a shuttle to Rarakau, before a stunning helicopter flight to Okaka lodge. Stay the night at Okaka Lodge with super king bed  and sumptuous hamper meals.

After a short rest take the opportunity to go up to the top of the Hump Ridge and walk the "loop track". The views are to die for, a must do on your "bucket list". The sunsets are truly stunning. Make sure you do it if the weather is clear.  Some mornings it can be fogged in and you will regret not going the night before.

Day 2
If you are an early risier, the sunrises are out of this world. Enjoy a morning cuppa on the front balcony and watch the day awaken before your very eyes. This morning enjoy porridge and coffee for breakfast.

From Okaka descend to Stag Point, where there is an opening in the natural bush. Take a breather to enjoy the view. Look back to Okaka Lodge to see where you have been. From stag point the track falls steadily down the ridge, until you come to a gentle rolling walk over a boardwalk with some bridges. Head down towards the coast, along a track surrounded by coastal native bush. Walk the length of the beach, before following the track up along the cliff tops towards Rarakau.

Shuttle departs Rarakau Carpark at 3.00pm for Tuatapere and the completion of your journey.
