Offshore, it is a paradise for fishing and diving off the many islands and reefs.
The Bay of Plenty gets its name from the regions highly productive farming community, with many orchards, growing kiwifruit, avocadoes, citrus and all manner of other crops. There is a large wine industry, and plentiful seafood industry, which all supply the local cafes and restaurants with great fresh food.
Tauranga Harbour is home to two marinas, full of yachts, fishing boats and launches. You could take one of the many charter boats on a deep sea fishing trip out to White or Mayor Islands. If you are wanting adventure, you could try swimming with the dolphins, blokarting, or sky diving. Afterwards relax at a spa or hot pool.
