Hastings, New Zealand
The Hastings district in Hawkes Bay is often referred to as the “Fruit Bowl of New Zealand” due to the impressive food production in the area. Hastings and her sister city, Napier, are known as the “Twin Cities” or the “Bay Cities” and many tourists who visit one of them end up visiting the other as well. Although the city is somewhat inland, it is only 20km from the nearest port and, as such, a trip to the ocean is generally a regular activity for locals and tourists.
Wildlife and animal adventures
The area is very well-known for its local gannet colony. There are tour companies that will take you to and around the area. This is a protected area and visitors need to be careful so as not to disturb the natural balance.

Not only can you meet some great farmyard friends but kids can enjoy pony rides and there are also horse treks available.
