Do you need to book huts on a Great Walk?

For overnight stays in the Great Walks season, yes. You need a hut or campsite booking. Day walkers don't need one. On the Abel Tasman, DOC takes hut and campsite bookings all year. On the Milford, camping is not allowed, so a hut booking is the only way to stay on the track.
