Is mobile phone coverage available on the Motu trails?

In Motu Cycle Trails

Mobile reception on the Motu Cycle Trails is patchy to non-existent on much of the Motu Road and Pakihi sections. Riders should not rely on being able to contact anyone while out there. It’s highly recommended to carry a personal locator beacon (PLB) or ride in groups, especially if you're doing the Pakihi Track solo or during poor weather.

Motu Cycle Trails

The Motu Cycle Trails offer a mix of coastal cruising, historic backcountry roads and remote forest singletrack across New Zealand’s Eastland and Bay of Plenty regions. As part of the official NZ Cycle Trail network, they cater to riders of all levels — from family-friendly outings to full-blown wilderness adventures.
