This privacy policy covers all the information you provide us by using our Services and interacting with us, unless stated otherwise. “Go New Zealand”, “us” and “we” all refer to Go New Zealand Pty Ltd, working in partnership with our other sites, suppliers and partners. We present a broad selection of travel services, including New Zealand holiday packages, car rental, motorhome rental, accommodation and cruise booking. We refer to all our products, services and websites as "Services" in this policy.

Here we also clarify how you can control your information. You can object to certain ways we use your information and you can access and update it. If you don’t agree with this policy, please don’t access/use our Services or connect with any aspect of our business.

In situations in which we offer Services under contract with an organization (e.g. with your employer), the organization controls the way in which the information provided is processed by the Services. For more details, please see “Notice to end users” below.

The information you provide

You provide your information when you use our Services and when other sources give it to us, as we describe below.

Information you provide

You provide your information when you interact with our websites, use our booking engine and when you input your details when using our Services.

Account and profile information:

You provide information when you register for an account, create/modify your profile, set/change your preferences, sign up for email newsletters or make an enquiry/booking via our Services. E.g. when you make a booking, you provide contact details and sometimes payment information. You can also add a display name, photo and extra details to your profile which will be displayed in our Services. We monitor your preferences when you choose your settings within our Services.

Content you provide via our products:

We collect and store the information you post, send, receive and share when you use our Services, including the Go New Zealand products. When you fill out a booking form or speak to our customer services team, we collect your information. The reason we collect your information is to ensure a smooth, efficient booking process for you. By storing your information, we can offer you the best services to suit your needs and make your booking experience fast and hassle-free.

You provide personal information we require to make a booking, which includes:

  • Name (so we can address you appropriately)
  • Age (supplier rates and insurance premiums differ according to age)
  • Country of residence (sometimes supplier rates vary by country of residence)
  • Telephone number and email (for contacting you)
  • Credit card information (to charge you after your booking has been confirmed)

Content you provide via our websites:

Our Services include the websites we own and operate. We collect additional content you submit to our websites, including our social media channels and networking site. E.g. you provide information when leaving feedback and participating in interactive features, contests, surveys, sweepstakes, promotions, activities and events.

Information you provide through our support channels:

Our Services also include customer support, through which you can submit information about any problems you experience with our Services. Whether you speak directly to a representative or engage with our support team in another manner, you’ll be asked to provide contact details, a description of your problem and any related information that could prove to be helpful in resolving the issue.

Payment information:

When you make a booking or enquiry, we collect payment and billing information so we can charge you when your booking has been confirmed by the supplier. You may also be asked to provide additional information, such as payment card details, which we collect through secure payment processing services.

Information automatically collected when you use our Services

You provide information when you use our Services. This includes browsing our websites, reading our email newsletters and taking specific actions within our Services.

Your use of our Services:

We collect and store selected information when you visit and interact with our Services. This information includes which features you use, the links you select and the terms you search for. The information we collect about how you use our Services is restricted to the data we can see with regards to how you interact with and use our Services’ features, as well as content-related information detailed in "Content you provide through our products".

Device and connection information:

You provide information about the computer, tablet, phone or other devices you use to access our Services. Device information includes your connection type and settings used when you access our Services. We also collect information about your operating system, browser, device identifiers, IP address and URLs of referring/exit pages. We collect and use your IP address and/or country preference so we can approximate your location and provide you with an improved Service experience. The information we collect varies according to the type and settings of the device you use to access our Services.

Go New Zealand and our third-party partners, including our analytics and advertising partners, use cookies and other tracking technologies (such as web beacons, pixels and device identifiers) so we can recognise you across various Services and devices. We collect this information to offer you an enhanced Service experience, which includes remembering your previous search and pre-filling your form details. Information we receive from other sources

We collect information about you from other Service users, third-party services, related companies, our business partners and channel partners.

Other users of our Services:

When they submit content through our Services, other users may provide information about you. E.g. others who use our Services may provide your email address when they fill in details on a form to add you to a booking or invite you to our Services.

Other services you link to your account:

You provide information when you link our Services with a third-party service. E.g. if you create an account or log into our Services using your Google or Facebook credentials we receive your name and email address, according to your profile settings. The information we receive when you link or integrate our Services with a third-party service varies according to your settings, permissions and privacy policy as determined by that third party service. Always review third party privacy settings and notices to confirm the data which may be disclosed to us or shared with our Services.

Go New Zealand partners:

We work with an international network of partners and companies which promote and market our products, generate leads and resell our Services. We may receive information from our partners, such as billing information, contact information and which country you reside in.

Other partners:

We may also receive information about you and your activities through Services from third party partners, including advertising and market research partners, who may provide us with information with regards to your likes, dislikes, interests, engagement with our services and online advertisements. We collect this information to offer an improved Service experience, such as providing you with the most relevant products and deals.

How we use the information you provide

How we use the information you provide depends on the Services you use, how you use them and your preferences. Below we’ve listed the reasons we use the information you provide:

To offer our Services and personalise your experience:

We use your information to offer you our Services, including to process transactions, to authenticate your identity when you login and to provide customer support. We merge your information and your activities to offer a seamless experience, which includes allowing you to find information from one particular Service while searching from another or to present you with relevant product information as you browse our websites.

For research and development:

We’re constantly aiming to improve the Services we offer you by making them more intelligent, more secure, more integrated, faster and more helpful. As well as via direct feedback, we use the information we receive on how people use our Services to troubleshoot and identify usage, trends, activity patterns and potential areas for improvement and integration of our Services. E.g when we wish to enhance a specific feature, we study the most recent interactions of several users, including how often they use the feature, to collect relevant details. We automatically analyze and aggregate the most commonly used searches to develop the relevance and accuracy of suggested products. Sometimes, we apply the knowledge we gain from our Services to enhance and develop similar features or to improve the integration of our other Services. Occasionally, we test and analyze specific new features within a limited group of users before we roll it out to everyone.

Communications with you about our Services:

We use your contact details to send transactional communications by email and through our Services. This includes messages to confirm your booking, to remind you about outstanding payments, to respond to your comments, requests and questions, to provide customer support and to send you information. Sometimes, we might also send you messages as you onboard to a specific Service, in order to help you use that Service better. These messages are all part of our Services and in the majority of cases, you can’t opt out of them. If there is the option to opt out, it will be made clear within the message itself or in your account settings.

To promote, market and boost engagement with our Services:

We may use your contact information and details about how you interact with our Services to send you promotional messages we think will interest you. Our messaging covers email and displaying Go New Zealand adverts targeting you on other websites and applications, including on platforms such as Facebook and Google. These messages are designed to drive engagement and maximise the value of our Services to you and includes information about our most recent deals we think might interest you. We might also get in touch with you about our latest offers, promos and competitions. You can decide whether or not you wish to receive these messages by following the instructions described below under "Opt-out of communications."

Customer support:

At times we might use your details to resolve issues you may have, to reply to your requests for help and to enhance our Services.

For safety and security:

We use the details we receive about you and how you use our Services to confirm accounts and activity, we well as to follow fraudulent or suspicious activity and to identify all violations of our Service policies.

To guard our legal rights and business interests:

Where we’re required by law or where we find it necessary to protect our legal rights, interests and the interests of others, we will use your details to assist with legal compliance, claims, regulatory and audit functions, in addition to disclosures with regards to the sale, merger or acquisition of a business.

With your consent:

We only use your information when you’ve given us your consent to do so for a definitive reason not already listed. For example, we may decide to publish customer stories or testimonials to market our Services, always with your permission.

Legal bases for processing (for EEA users)

If you’re based in the European Economic Area (EEA), it’s important you understand we only collect and process your information when we have legal bases to do so according to applicable EU laws. The circumstances depend on which of our Services you use, as well as how you use them. This means we collect and use your information when:

How we share the information we gather

We share the information we receive about you via the methods listed below. To complete your booking, we require your personal details, including your full name, address, email address, phone number and credit card number. To process the booking, we might pass all or some of this information on to our suppliers. This transaction is processed via a password-protected and encrypted secure site which requires users to login with an account. We won’t rent or sell any of your personally-identifiable details to any third party.

Sharing with third parties

We share details with third parties to help us provide, operate, integrate, improve, personalise, support and promote our Services.

Service providers:

We work with third-party service providers to offer website and application development, maintenance, hosting, storage, backup, payment processing, virtual infrastructure, analysis and other Services for. These services might require us to provide access to or use information about you. If a service provider requires access to your details to perform services on our behalf, they do so following strict instructions from us, including adhering to our policies and procedures we designed to protect your information.

Go New Zealand partners:

We work with third parties to enhance the Services we offer to you. The assistance we receive from them covers consulting, sales and technical help to provide you with a better experience. We might share your details with these third parties in relation to the assistance they give us, such as to improve our promotional and marketing efforts. We may share details with these third parties in accordance with where you consented to such sharing.

Links to third party sites:

Our Services may include links directing you to other websites or services with different privacy practices. When you submit information to any third party site, your details are governed by their privacy policies, not ours. Because we have no control over third party privacy policies, we encourage you to thoroughly read the privacy policy of any third party website you visit.

Social media widgets:

Our Services sometimes include links directing you to other websites or services with different privacy practices. Your use of third party sites and any information you submit to them is governed by their privacy policies, not ours.

Third party widgets:

Some of our Services include social media features and widgets, such as the Facebook "like" button. These features and widgets collect your IP address, information about the page within our Services you’re visiting and some may set a cookie for the feature to work correctly. Social media features and widgets are hosted by a third party or directly on our Services. How you interact with them is governed by the privacy policy of the company which provides it.

With your consent:

We share your information with third parties when you allow us to do so. For example, we frequently display personal testimonials and reviews of happy customers on our public websites. If you consent, we might post your name next to your testimonial or review.

Compliance with enforcement requests and applicable laws — enforcement of our rights:

In rare circumstances, we might share your details with a third party, if we think sharing it is reasonably necessary in order to:

  • Comply with the law, regulations, government requests or legal processes (this includes meeting national security requirements).

Sharing with affiliated companies

We may transfer or share the information we collect in accordance with this privacy policy with regards to any takeover, sale of company assets, financing or purchase of all or a selection of our business to another company. In this scenario, you’ll be notified by email and/or a prominent notice displayed on our Services if a transaction is to take place, as well as the options you have with regards to the information you’ve provided us.

How we store and secure your details

Information storage and security

To store the information we collect, we use data hosting service providers based in Australia, New Zealand, the US and Ireland. We use rigid technical measures to secure your data.

How long we keep your information

How long we store your details depends on the nature of them, as described below. In time, we will delete or anonymise your details or, if this isn’t possible (because the information is kept in backup archives, for instance) we will store your data securely and restrict any further use of it until we can delete it.

Account information:

We preserve your account information as long as your account is active, as well as for a reasonable period thereafter, in case you choose to re-activate our Services at a later date. We also keep selected details in order to resolve legal disputes, comply with our legal obligations, to support business operations, to enforce our agreements and to enhance our Services. In the cases in which we keep your details for Service enhancement, we remove details which directly identify you. We only use the details we receive to learn about collective insights with regards to your use of our Services — not to analyse your personal characteristics.

Marketing information:

If you’ve chosen to receive our marketing emails, we keep details about your marketing preferences for a reasonable amount of time, starting from the date you most recently expressed an interest in our Services. E.g. when you last opened one of our emails or when you stopped using your account. We keep details obtained through cookies and other tracking technologies for a reasonable amount of time, starting from the date the information was created.

How to access and control your details

With regards to certain aspects, you can choose how to access and control your details. Below you’ll find a compilation of these choices, how you can exercise them and any applicable restrictions.

Your choices:

You can request a copy of your details, object to us using your details (including for marketing purposes), ask for us to restrict or delete your details, or request to have your details in a structured, electronic format. Below we list the tools and processes for you to make these requests. You can exercise selected choices by logging into our Services and making use of the settings within our Services or your account. If you require additional help or want to make any other requests, contact us using the information in the “Contact us” section below.

Your request and choices may be restricted in certain cases:

For example, if fulfilling your request would require us to reveal details about another person, or if you request we delete details which we have a legal right to store have compelling legitimate interests to keep. If you have unresolved concerns, you can complain to a data protection authority in the country in which you live, work or where you feel your rights were infringed.

Accessing and updating your information:

Our Services let you access and update selected details from within our Service. For example, you can access your profile details within your account. You can update your profile data within the settings of your profile and modify information containing your data using the options associated with that content.

Deactivate your account:

If you don’t want to use our Services any longer, you may have the ability to deactivate your account within your account settings. Alternatively, contact us via the information provided in the “Contact us” section below and we can remove your account. It’s important you understand that deactivating your account won’t delete your details. Your data may continue to be visible to other Service users depending on your past interactions within our Services. For more information on how you can remove your data, see below.

Requesting that we stop using your data:

You may request that we cease to access, store, use or otherwise process your information where you believe we don't have the right to. For example, if you think an account was created on your behalf without your permission or you’re no longer an active user, you can ask us to delete your account in accordance with this privacy policy. Where you have given us your consent to use your data for a restricted purpose, you can get in touch with us to withdraw your consent. But this won’t affect any processing already completed. You can also choose to opt-out of any use of your data for promotional and marketing purposes by getting in touch with us via the details listed below. When you make a request like this, we will resolve it within 30 days of receipt. If there’s a delay or challenge as to whether or not we reserve the right to carry on using your details, we’ll limit all further use of your data until the request is honoured or the challenge is resolved.

Opting out of communications:

You may choose to opt out of receiving our promotional communications through the unsubscribe link found within each email, by updating your email preferences within your Service account settings or by getting in touch with us via the details provided below. We will then remove your information from our email list or registration database. When you make a request like this, we will resolve it within 24 hours of receipt. Even after you decline our promotional messages, you will still receive transactional messages from us about our Services. You can opt out of selected notification messages in your account settings.

Data portability:

Data portability is the capacity to receive some of your data in a format you can move between service providers. E.g when you transfer your mobile phone number from one carrier to another. Data portability may apply to some of your details, but not all of them. If you make such as request, we will provide you with an electronic file containing your basic account information and any additional details you provided when you created your account within our Services that are under your exclusive control.

How we transfer the data we receive internationally

International transfers of the data we collect

We collect information worldwide and we primarily store that data in Australia and New Zealand. To provide you with our Services, we may process, transfer and store your data outside your country of residence to wherever we or our third-party service providers operate. Whenever we move your data, we make sure it’s well protected.

International transfers within Go New Zealand:

In accordance with this policy, to facilitate our worldwide operations, we may move information to New Zealand, Australia, Ireland or the US and permit access to that data from countries in which we have operations. These countries may not have the same data and privacy protection laws as the laws of the countries in which our customers and users are based.

Yes (Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computers hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow) that enables the sites or service providers systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information. 

We use cookies to help us remember and process the items in your shopping cart, understand and save your preferences for future visits, keep track of advertisements and compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that we can offer better site experiences and tools in the future. We may contract with third-party service providers to assist us in better understanding our site visitors. REMARKETING

We also uses 3rd party vendor re-marketing tracking cookies, including the Google Adwords tracking cookie. This means we will continue to show ads to you across the internet, specifically on the Google Display Network (GDN). As always, we respect your privacy and are not collecting any identifiable information through the use of Google’s or any other 3rd party remarketing system. 

The third-party vendors, including Google, whose services we use – will place cookies on web browsers in order to serve ads based on past visits to our website. – Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to your website. This allows us to make special offers and continue to market our services to those who have shown interest in our service.

GOOGLE ANALYTICS DEMOGRAPHICS & INTEREST REPORTING

This website uses cookies to facilitate the sampled reporting of demographics and interests of its visitors within Google Analytics – this website will not merge or facilitate the merging of personally-identifiable information with non-personally identifiable information previously collected from Display Advertising or divulge said information to any 3rd parties.

We’re dedicated to respecting and protecting your privacy and don’t use your personal data for anything you haven’t agreed to. We take a proactive approach to privacy and security and adhere to international protocols and standards. We’re not responsible for the security or privacy practices of other organizations, which may differ from this policy.

Transaction security:

Our secure booking server employs 128 bit encryption to guarantee the highest possible levels of security. You can check this by the padlock displayed in the closed position in your browser. Any data, including credit card information, you enter and submit on such a page will be encrypted and transmitted securely. When the transaction is finalised, your data is stored in an encrypted state. All information transmitted via our booking page is done using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). SSL employs a cryptographic system which uses two keys to encrypt data. One is a public key and the other is a private or secret key, known only to the recipient of the message.

Our policy regarding children:

Our Services are not directed to anyone under 16. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If we learn that a child under 16 has given us their personal information, we will delete it. If you’re aware of a child providing us with any personal data, please contact our support services.

Changes to our privacy policy

We may alter our privacy policy from time to time. We will post any privacy policy updates on this page and, in the case of major changes, we’ll notify you of them via email. We advise that you review our privacy policy every time you use our Services to stay up-to-date about our information practices and how you can protect your own privacy.

If you disagree with any privacy policy changes, please stop using our Services and deactivate your account following the instructions above.
