Families with young children and experienced riders are welcome to join our tours. We have scenic day treks that are perfect for beginners, as well as intermediate tours that are great for adventure-seeking riders. You are free to choose a trail that suits your riding ability. Our horses and ponies are well-trained and surefooted to guarantee you the best riding experience.

Beginner Treks

The scenic Moke Lake is relatively flat and is friendly to novice and families with young children. You will ride gently across a 33,000-acre working farm, past Angus cattle and Merino sheep and across rivers, before you arrive at the enchanting Moke Lake for that perfect photo opportunity.

Lake Hawea and Hunter Valley also offer great opportunities for gentle riding. Our 3-day tour is leisurely and provide options for other activities like fly-fishing, swimming, and sleeping under the stars! With postcard-perfect views, the rides will surely take your breath away.

The Walter Peak horse trek is an easy, scenic trek. Cruise aboard the historic TSS Earnslaw before you meet your horse and guide, and set off on amazing equestrian experience.

Intermediate to Advanced

If you have some riding ability the Gills Creek, McConnochies Creek, and Birchwood Station Boutique Trail are great options.

The Gills Creek tour will take you up a valley towards the Old Gold Country that features many river crossings and finishing at stunning Moke Lake. The McConnochies Creek will take you high up the Moonlight Valley with such astounding views of the canyon below. The Birchwood Station Boutique Trail will take 3 days to complete where you will explore a section of the Ahuriri Valley National Park that features snow-capped mountains ranges.

If you’re looking for a truly unforgettable tour, our 8-day Twin Lakes of Wanaka and Hawea is definitely worth considering. We will explore private lands through iconic high country stations to guarantee that 100% pure unspoilt New Zealand environment.
