The Remarkables Ski Area
Situated near Queenstown, New Zealand, the Remarkables Ski Area offers amazing skiing and snowboarding along with superb views. The Remarkables ski field is comprised of three sheltered and sunny bowls and surrounded by rugged peaks along with an impressive rideable area of over 220 hectares.
Beginners can choose between various long and wide open runs accessed by the Alta and Sugar bowl chairlifts.
For those of intermediate skill level, you can enjoy something a bit more challenging by riding the slopes off the Shadow Bowl and Sugar Bowl chairlifts. Advanced riders and skiers can enjoy trips into the steep chutes located above the picture perfect frozen Lake Alta. Alternatively, you can head for the Homeward Bound area which many consider to be the best in-bound backcountry run in the whole country!
The freestyle facilities at the Remarkables Ski Area are equally satisfying thanks to the 2008 addition of “The Stash”. This Burton signature terrain park offers visitors amazing backcountry style park features which make it a first in the entire Southern Hemisphere! The Dirty Dog Terrain Park includes features suitable for all experience levels from beginner to advanced. This is an absolute must for those who fancy their boxes, jumps and rails!
The walk to the lookout at the Remarkables Ski Area above the Shadow Bowl chairlift is a short and relatively easy one. From here, you can enjoy an amazing view over the Wakatipu basin and Queenstown too.
