West Coast Day Tours

The ‘Wild West Coast’ in New Zealand is not only home to the famous Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers, but is also a great location to explore and connect with nature. Our West Coast day tours are a great addition to your trip in this region.

Greymouth

Base yourself in Greymouth and see the best of the West Coast. At Monteith's Brewery learn about the art of making beer, try some of the local brew, or stop for a meal of the local Whitebait patties, beer battered fries and a choice of West Coast specialities such as Kowhai Kumara Tarts and Alpine Venison Sliders.

Some highlights include the spectacular coast drive to Punakaiki and the "Pancake Rocks", with their famous blow-holes. Learn about the heritage of the west coast and visit the historic Brunner Mine Site and Shantytown. Visit Hokitika Gorge and get a bird's eye view of the native Rimu and Kamahi Forest, whilst walking high up in the forest canopy on a tree top walk.

Franz Josef

Discover Franz Josef Glacier from Greymouth with a walk to the terminal face and visit the West Coast Wildlife Centre and see New Zealand's endangered Kiwi Bird and Tuatara, an ancient reptile that was around when dinosaurs roamed the earth 200 million years ago.

Looking for something more adventurous? Try your hand at a quad bike and make your way through rainforests, grasslands, riverbeds, and sand and mud -- all of these with the Southern Alps in the background!
