At Christchurch cruise ships usually use the new cruise terminal at Lyttleton, though a few ships also anchor at Akaroa. Shore excursions are available from there to Christchurch, or further afield to Arthurs Pass, Banks Peninsula and the wineries. If arriving into Dunedin both city tours and wildlife trips out to Otago Peninsula are available. A popular stop is a visit to Larnach Castle and Gardens, with its scandalous history and Garden of International Significance.
