Christchurch to Christchurch Self Drive

Explore the South Island of New Zealand from Christchurch, the main international airport gateway and the South Island’s largest city. Discover the best of the South Island from Marlborough and Nelson regions in the north to Queenstown, Fiordland National Park and Otago in the south. Drive the scenic West Coast from Punakaiki and the Pancake Rocks to historic Hokitika and the West Coast Glaciers.

In Fiordland take a Nature Cruise on Milford Sound, or take a wilderness cruise on magnificent Doubtful Sound. Explore the Southern Scenic Route from Te Anau in Fiordland via Invercargill to the Dunedin, with its’ Scottish history. On the way take a trip out to Stewart Island and spend a couple of nights on New Zealand’s third island, and be taken back to another time.  Discover Dunedin’s wildlife attractions and gardens, and magnificent Olveston House and Larnach Castle. 

Visit Hanmer Springs and bathe in the geothermal hot pools; or at Kaikoura, sample the delicious Crayfish after taking a Whale Watch Tour. Cross the Southern Alps through Arthurs Pass or Lewis Pass, or view spectacular Aoraki/Mt Cook. Take in the French history of Akaroa, before taking a wildlife cruise or Swim with the Dolphins trip to see the rare and endangered Hectors Dolphins.
