Tour Combo: Save $154
Visit three of the most popular tourist destinations in New Zealand with this two-day combo pass. It includes a trip to the breathtaking Bay of Islands, the underground wonders of the Waitomo Caves and the thermal paradise of Rotorua.
Day 1: Bay of Islands Day Tour and Hole in the Rock Dolphin Cruise
Relax and enjoy New Zealand's wonderful scenery as you make your way north from Auckland to the Bay of Islands for a half-day dolphin cruise. Once you arrive in Paihia, you will board our purpose built catamaran Dolphin Seeker for a three-hour cruise through the clear waters. For the duration of your cruise, your skipper will look out for dolphins and other local marine life. If and when conditions allow, you will be taken as close to these sociable creatures as possible.
Take in those stunning views as you cruise past the many beautiful islands and the Cape Brett Lighthouse. Your skipper will guide the catamaran to the spectacular Hole in the Rock and, if conditions permit, you will be taken on a trip through the narrow hole. Once your cruise comes to an end, you will rejoin your driver for the trip back to Auckland.
Day 2: Waitomo Caves and Rotorua Experience
The sparkling glowworms and limestone formations at Waitomo Caves are famous throughout the world. The Rotorua area is also known for its rich cultural heritage and geothermal activity around every corner.
As you make your way south through the Waikato and King Country regions, your guide will keep you entertained with some informative commentary as you take in the lovely surrounding farmlands. Once you arrive in the small town of Waitomo, you will be taken on a guided tour through the famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves. The 45 minute tour includes such spectacular sights as stalactites, stalagmites, massive caverns and numerous other limestone rock formations that have taken millions of years to form. The final part of your tour is the highlight for many as you enjoy a boat ride that feels like something from a fairytale. The boat will take you through the Glowworm Grotto and the thousands of tiny glowworms inside will light up the cavern. As you leave Waitomo, you will enjoy a picnic-style lunch en route to Rotorua. Vegetarian and other dietary options are available upon request. The Agrodome in Rotorua is your next stop and a tour of this facility includes making your way around the organic working farm on an all-terrain vehicle. See how sheep are shorn and be amazed by a real, live sheep dog trial!
Next up is the trip to Te Puia, which is one of New Zealand's main cultural venues. Here you will experience a warm welcome in traditional Maori style as well as a cultural performance at the marae (meeting house). Here after, you will enter the strange and fascinating Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley for a guided tour of its active geysers and bubbling mud pools. The tour also includes a trip to the Te Puia's woodcarving and weaving schools. This is where many of today's apprentices receive training in traditional skills. As you coach takes you back to Auckland, you will be served a scrumptious afternoon snack that includes traditional Maori rewana bread.
Important info: This tour combo must be taken over two consecutive days in the above-mentioned order. Should you wish to book this combo in reverse order, please request tour option GSWRB when making your booking. Also note that accommodation in Auckland is not included with this tour combo.
