This eight-day, seven-night guided hiking tour combines two of the North Island’s standout walking regions: the Coromandel Peninsula and Tongariro National Park. Walk approximately 84 km, including The Pinnacles, Coromandel Coastal Walkway and Tongariro Alpine Crossing, with a maximum of 13 walkers.

Stay in ensuite lodge and hotel accommodation, carry only a day pack and travel with experienced New Zealand hiking guides. Most meals, trail snacks, transport and selected hiking gear hire are included, with departures from Rotorua or Matamata and return to Taupō or Rotorua.

Dinner on Night 4 in Rotorua is not included, giving you time to choose your own restaurant.

Stay for six nights in comfortable 3-star boutique lodge accommodation and one night in a 4.5-star historic hotel in central Rotorua. All seven nights include ensuite rooms, with twin, double and single options available. A single supplement applies for travellers wanting their own room.

  • 71 days or more before departure: Full refund less deposit**+
  • Between 70-31 days: 30% cancellation fee**
  • Within 30 days: No refund

+Deposit is non-refundable, however you can make unlimited changes to your chosen tour up to 70 days before your arrival, including changing your tour dates and changing tour participants

No. This is a lodge-based tour, so you only carry a day pack containing water, lunch, rain gear, warm layers and personal items.

Yes. The itinerary includes the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, with the schedule adjusted where possible so it can be attempted on the best available weather day.

Most meals are included, including breakfasts, packed lunches, trail snacks and dinners. Dinner on Night 4 in Rotorua is not included.

The complete tour covers approximately 84 km. Daily distances range from around 5 km on the shorter days to just over 20 km on the Tongariro Alpine Crossing.

The tour is Moderate overall, but The Pinnacles and Tongariro Alpine Crossing require good fitness and confidence on longer, steeper terrain. Most other days involve shorter or more gradual walks.
