Abel Tasman Anchorage Walk, Seals & Sail

This full-day Abel Tasman adventure starts in Mārahau with a 12 km self-guided walk to Anchorage, followed by a three-hour sail to Kaiteriteri and transfer back to Mārahau. Begin walking by 8:30am for the single 1:30pm sailing, with 3–4 hours walking and around seven hours of activities. Operating October–mid-April, it includes sailing, lunch, tea, coffee and return transfer, and suits adults and families comfortable with independent walking.

Walk the Abel Tasman Coast Track to Anchorage

Begin your morning in Mārahau and follow approximately 12 km of the Abel Tasman Coast Track north towards Anchorage. The self-guided walk takes around 3–4 hours, winding through native bush and past golden beaches, sheltered bays and elevated coastal viewpoints. With no guide setting the pace, you have the freedom to enjoy the track independently while allowing enough time to reach Anchorage for your afternoon sailing departure.

Arriving at Anchorage marks a complete change of perspective. After time to rest by the beach, meet your skipper at 1:15pm and prepare to see the coastline you have just explored from the water instead. The three-hour sail towards Kaiteriteri passes forested headlands and secluded bays, with opportunities to look for New Zealand fur seals along the way before your included transfer returns you to Mārahau.

We recommend beginning your self-guided walk by 8:30am. Please check in with your skipper at Anchorage Beach at 1:15pm for the 1:30pm sailing departure.
