Itinerary
9:00 AM – Christchurch Departure
Start your adventure with a pick-up from your accommodation. Your guide will point out highlights of the Garden City as you head north..
10:00 AM – Springfield & Alpine Jet Boating (1 Hour)
Arrive in Springfield and prepare for a thrilling 25-minute jet boat ride on the Waimakariri River with Alpine Jet Thrills.
After the ride, enjoy a stroll through the Riverside Bush track or visit the Alpine Boutique
11:30 AM – Lake Pearson / Lake Lyndon Stop (10 Minutes)
Stop briefly at these picturesque alpine lakes. Take in the scenic beauty of Lake Pearson, surrounded by the Southern Alps, and Lake Lyndon, a serene spot at the base of Porters Pass
12:15 PM – Castle Hill Exploration (1 Hour)
Arrive at Castle Hill and explore the unique limestone rock formations, famous for their appearances in Lord of the Rings and Narnia.
Free time to walk among the rocks, or watch climbers and boulderers.
1:45 PM – Otira Gorge Lookout (15 Minutes)
Stop at Death’s Corner to admire the Otira Viaduct and the surrounding national park. Enjoy panoramic views and keep an eye out for the cheeky Kea, New Zealand’s alpine parrot.
2:15 PM – Arthur’s Pass Village
Arrive at Arthur’s Pass Village, where you can choose to hike the Devil’s Punch Bowl waterfall (approx. 1 hour) or explore the village shops

3:45 PM – Cave Stream Stop (15 Minutes)
Quick stop to view Cave Stream, a 594-meter underground passage that’s accessible even to novice cavers. Take in this incredible natural formation.
4:30 PM – Porters Pass Scenic Drive
Drive through Porters Pass, the third-highest highway in the South Island, offering stunning views of the Canterbury Plains and the Southern Alps.
7:00 PM – Return to Christchurch
Arrive back in Christchurch and drop off at your accommodation, concluding your adventure with great memories and photos
As this tour operates in an alpine region the weather can be unpredictable. In the event of bad weather this tour will continue on to Greymouth and Lake Brunner.
