Day 1 – Auckland City Sights Morning Tour
Start the tour with a morning trip through the busy streets of Auckland. Enjoy the stunning panoramic harbour views and various scenic highlights along the way. Your city tour will take you through the centre and stylish Ponsonby to the famous Auckland Harbour Bridge. Here you can enjoy some of the best views of the Hauraki Gulf and the spectacular city skyline. You will then be taken to the Viaduct Harbour and the city's famous Queen Street before you make your way on to the city's oldest park, Auckland Domain.
Take a short break for some morning tea in Parnell Village. Here you will notice how the many historic buildings have been converted into boutique shops for the ultimate shopping experience. Make your way along the picturesque waterfront route of Tamaki Drive to the tranquil Michael Joseph Savage Memorial Park. From here, you can view the Eastern Bays, Auckland city and the Waitemata Harbour glistens in the distance. Hereafter, you will return to downtown Auckland via the waterfront route.
Day 2 – Waitomo Caves Tour and Rotorua Attractions
Every minute of this tour reveals something new, beautiful and fascinating. From the glowworms and world-famous limestone formations inside the Waitomo Caves to the rich Maori culture and geothermal activity in Rotorua, you will always have something to see. This full-day sightseeing tour takes you into King Country in the very heart of the North Island. The guided tour takes you through the amazing Waitomo Glowworm Caves. This part of the tour takes about 45 minutes and you will get a close up view of the stalactites, stalagmites and other limestone formations that have come to be over millions of years. A boat will then take you into the Glowworm Grotto where you can't help but feel like you have left this world and stepped into some fairytale land. Look up and all around to see these amazing creatures sparkle and twinkle.
You will then be served a picnic-style lunch en route to Rotorua. Do note that vegetarian and other dietary options are available upon request. In Rotorua, you will be able to see just what rural New Zealand is all about with a trip to the Agrodome. Here, you will travel with an all-terrain vehicle and see just how a working farm operates. Witness some professional sheep-shearing and a sheep dog trial too. At Te Puia, one of the main cultural venues in the country, you can see and hear a traditional Maori song and dance performance. At the Te Puia woodcarving and weaving schools, you can see how the skilled artists pass on their knowledge of such traditional practices to new apprentices. Afterwards, you will be taken on a guided tour of the active geysers and bubbling mudpools in the Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley. It is important to note that this particular area is home to the famous Pohutu geyser. This geyser releases powerful vapour jets that can reach up to 30 metres in height! A scrumptious afternoon snack will then be served as you return to Auckland. This snack also includes traditional Maori rewana bread.
