Overview

Enjoy a truly kiwi bivvy experience in Lewis Pass Scenic Reserve, when you do the Brass Monkey Bivvy Overnight Hike nestled in traditional outcrops. Standing in the middle of mountains in New Zealand's Southern Alps, this small 2-bed bunk rises through strong, tussock grass that reflects the skies light.  Multiple unmarked tracks find their way to this bivvy, but many seem to have failed to find it, though the adventure getting there is all worth the effort.

Fitness: There is a steady climb up to the Brass Monkey Bivvy, which is challenging but suitable for those with a reasonable fitness level.

Pick Ups: From the local iSites (Information or Visitor Centres)
