Overview
The Cape Winery Tour offers a delightful self-guided biking experience, taking you through stunning river and coastal trails leading to Cape Kidnappers. This popular 16-24km ride highlights some of the best wineries in the region. Starting near Havelock North, you'll visit renowned wineries such as Craggy Range, Black Barn, and Te Mata Estate, before cycling through picturesque orchard country along the Tuki Tuki River. The route leads to the coastal settlement of Te Awanga, where you’ll be treated to tastings at more acclaimed wineries, including Elephant Hill, Te Awanga Estate, and Clearview Estate. With up to seven wineries on the way, there are fantastic lunch spots at Elephant Hill, Clearview, and Te Awanga.
This tour allows up to 6 hours for a leisurely ride, ensuring you have ample time to enjoy each stop. At the end of the day, you'll be collected and transferred back to your accommodation or Ahuriri, providing convenience and a stress-free experience. The tour includes lunch bookings at either Clearview Winery or Te Awanga Estate, along with an electric bike, helmet, pannier bag, maps, and a full tour briefing. Two transfers are provided as part of the "No Worries" package, which covers all the essentials, so you can focus on enjoying the wine and scenery.
Additional perks of the "No Worries" package include bike theft insurance, a reusable drink bottle, an extra-comfortable gel seat cover, and guaranteed new bikes (less than two years old). You'll also have access to full back-up support, a phone holder for convenience, and a carrier bag to store all the wine you'll collect along the way. The tour caters to both adults and kids over 12 years, with e-bikes available for an easy and enjoyable ride. Pick-up from your Napier City accommodation around 10am or from Havelock North village around 10:30am is included for a seamless start to your adventure.
LUNCH: we recommend Clearview Estate (Mediterranean style food with table service - bookings essential), Te Awanga (who offer the best pizzas in Hawke’s Bay - you can sit outside on their green lawn so numbers aren't so limited but if you are a big group, definitely book and pre-order your pizzas/platters) or head to Hygge Cafe in Clifton - amazing array of food and a grea spot to have lunch.
Allow 6hrs for this tour. At the end of the day you will be collected and transferred back to Ahuriri or your accommodation if required.
