Overview
Christchurch City sights half day tour featuring the central city highlights, botanical gardens, Museum and Art Centre, with great commentary.
The tour starts in the central business district where your guide will explain the city's history and the effects of the devastating earthquake that happened in February 2011. Leaving the inner city, your tour travels on to a historic homestead and gardens, Mona Vale, and then on to the historic Sign of the Takahe. This location offers spectacular views over the city, Canterbury Plains, and the Southern Alps. You will then travel via the Port Hills and Lyttleton Harbour to the Port of Lyttleton. You will pass through the Lyttleton harbour tunnel and arrive in the coastal suburb of Sumner and cave rock before returning to the CBD.
The Morning Highlights Tour of Christchurch gives you the option to include admission to the International Antarctic Centre. This features a recreation of the atmosphere of Antarctica with a Snow and Ice Experience, the Blue Penguin encounter, 4D Show and an exhilarating Hagglund ride.
