Abel Tasman Cruise, Walk, Seals & Sail

This full-day Abel Tasman adventure departs Kaiteriteri Beach, combining a 30-minute water taxi to Anchorage, a 1–2 hour self-guided Pitt Head Loop walk and a three-hour sail back to Kaiteriteri. Choose a 9:00am or 10:30am water-taxi departure, with around seven hours overall. Operating October–mid-April, it includes water taxi, skippered sailing, fur seal viewing, tea and coffee, and suits couples and families wanting an easy mix of walking, wildlife and coastal scenery.

Cruise to Anchorage and Explore the Pitt Head Loop

Begin at Kaiteriteri Beach with a scenic water-taxi journey into Abel Tasman National Park, arriving at the golden sands of Anchorage Bay. Rather than simply passing through, you have time to explore independently on foot, following the Pitt Head Loop Track through native coastal vegetation to viewpoints overlooking the surrounding bays and islands.

The walk also leads towards secluded Te Pukatea Bay, where a crescent of golden sand sits between forested headlands. Allow around 1–2 hours for the self-guided walk before returning to Anchorage in time for the afternoon sailing departure. At 1:30pm, swap the walking track for a sailing catamaran and spend the next three hours cruising the coast, watching for New Zealand fur seals before arriving back at Kaiteriteri around 4:30pm.
