Overview

Our shorter New Zealand sea kayaking tour to Devonport and North Head (Maungauika) is given the same attention to detail by our experienced guides as our popular Rangitoto tour. We have offered this North Head Kayak Adventure tour for those with limited time or experience as a paddler.

Before we leave, we run you through a safety briefing, with our experienced guides leading the way and keeping you safe while on the water.

We cast off from our well-known Fergs Kayaks base at Okahu Bay right on the water’s edge not 10 minutes away from downtown Auckland, paddling across Auckland harbour in the direction of the charming seaside suburb of Devonport.

We then make our way around North Head after leaving Devonport and set foot on Cheltenham Beach, a delightful place for a swim. From the beach, we then take a track around North Head and up to the peak for an impressive view of the Auckland city and harbour.

Since the early days, North Head has been used for defensive purposes. It is an extinct volcano that has become an Auckland landmark full of historic features and many tunnels that the military once used.

All our kayak tours require booking and subject to favourable weather and sea conditions.
