Overview

“Lunch” comes to mind at the mere mention of Furneaux Lodge Day in the Sounds cruise from Picton in Marlborough. Get ready for an exciting day ahead as the tour leaves Picton at 9am and weaves its watery way through the Queen Charlotte Sound. Keep your eyes peeled and your ears open as your skipper narrates the area’s history and residents, both people and wildlife. Step ashore at the historic Ship Cove for 30 minutes and look around Captain Cook’s favourite anchorage from when he first came here and returned several times in the 1770’s. After this brief stop, it’s time to get dropped off at the iconic Furneaux Lodge.

Set amongst three acres of lawns and gardens, the Furneaux Lodge is tucked away at the base of Mount Furneaux in the Endeavour Inlet, flanked by 2,000 acres of untouched native forest. Completed in the early 1900’s, the lodge is secluded and accessible only on foot or by boat. Enjoy a leisurely walk after lunch amongst the trees on your way to the lodge’s very own waterfall.

Join the Mail Boat upon your return and make your way back to Picton.

Your cruise cost does not include food and beverages, which are payable directly to Furneaux Lodge.
