Enter the mesmerising world of Waitomo caves on this Glowing Adventures Glow Worm Eco-Tour. Let our experienced guides show you around the stunning native forest of New Zealand and lead you into the untouched Waitomo caves. Each small group tour has no more than 8 participants so are able to let you explore and enjoy the caves more slowly, giving you more time to soak up the surroundings and marvel at the enchanting glow worm displays.
The caves have not been modified so there are no manmade structures like concrete paths, handrails, and electric lights that make moving around easier. You have to be reasonably fit as the tour requires for you to clamber over boulders, walk up hills, and wade through streams.
Enjoy two hours in the cave system but we recommend you set aside 3 hours for the tour.
This adventure requires the right equipment and clothing - caving helmet, socks and boots - which we will provide. All you need to do at the end of the tour is change into your clean clothes without having to worry about dirty laundry.
Once the tour is over, you may also use our shower facilities and enjoy a snack and hot beverage.
You can bring a small digital camera on our adventures or take pictures with your phones. During the tour, our guides will also capture your special moments, and later provide you with digital copies at no extra charge. If you wish to take with you bigger equipment to properly photograph the magnificent scenery, consider joining our Glowing Adventures Glow Worm Cave Photography Tours instead.
While the small towns of Otorohanga and Te Kuiti as well as the Waitomo Caves Vilkage are just a short drive away, Glowing Adventures is far from the usual tourist track.
