Glowing Adventures is far from the well-worn tourist path though still a short drive away from the small towns of Otorohanga and Te Kuiti as well as the Waitomo Caves Village. Explore the breathtaking native forest of New Zealand unspoiled glow worm caves in this exclusive Glowing Adventures Private Glow Worm Cave Tour led by one of our knowledgeable guides. Everything in the cave has been left the way it is, with no modifications like handrails, electric lights or concrete paths.
The difference between our standard Glowing Adventure Eco-tour and private tours is the services of a guide and the exclusivity of the tour, which consists of only your party and no other participants. All other features are the same.
There are no manmade modifications in the cave system like electric lights, handrails or concrete paths but there are boulders to climb, hills to hike and streams to wade through, so you have to be moderately fit to be able to join.
You have two hours to enjoy in the cave system so allow three hours for the tour.
You don’t have to worry about having to deal with dirty clothes or bringing your own gear. We provide you with the right clothing and equipment you might need for this adventure including caving helmet, boots and socks. At the end of the tour, simply change back to your clean clothes, and leave it to us to deal with all your dirty laundry.
After the tour is over, you may want to use our shower facilities. A snack and hot beverage are available for you to enjoy.
You naturally would want to capture special moments in this adventure, which is why we welcome you to use small digital cameras and phones to take photos. During the tour, our guide will also capture some shots, and share with you digital copies at no extra cost. On the other hand, our Glowing Adventures Glow Worm Cave Photography Tours are perfect for photographers who wish to bring bigger equipment to properly photograph the mesmerising scenery.
Minimum group size for this tour is two and the maximum is eight.
A child younger than 16 should have a parent or guardian present. Minimum age requirement is 11.
This tour calls for climbing over hills and boulders, and walking on rocks underfoot while crossing a stream. For this reason, you have to be reasonably fit to join. We don’t recommend this tour to the elderly or anyone with difficulties in mobility.
Glowing Adventures is not connected to a public transport network or able to collect participants. You need to arrange your private transport to reach us.
