Arthur’s Pass, Otira Gorge and Castle Hill
Leave Greymouth and travel inland towards Arthur’s Pass National Park, one of the South Island’s most spectacular alpine routes. Stop at Otira Gorge Lookout for sweeping mountain views, photos of the impressive Otira Viaduct and the chance to spot a cheeky kea.
Continue to Arthur’s Pass Village, where you can explore the local area or walk towards Devils Punchbowl. Before arriving in Christchurch, visit Castle Hill and wander among its weathered limestone rocks, a striking landscape known for its unique shapes, tussock hills and film-worthy scenery.
