On this Havelock North Self Guided Trail Cycle from the suburb of Ahuriri in Napier, Hawkes Bay, you will pedal around the port on your way to Napier, with it's magnificent Art Deco buildings. Admire the distinctive facades of Napier’s buildings before moving on south following Marine Parade, which looks out to stunning coastal views and Cape Kidnappers from across the sea.
Take a break for some refreshments on arrival at the village of Clive after pedalling for about 15km. Continue riding the trail that passes through the East Clive wetlands where numerous black swans take refuge, finally arriving near the mouth of the Tuki Tuki River at Black Bridge. You turn inland from here, pedalling on the river stopbank through quaint orchard country on your way to Havelock North.
Take some time to look around the must-see Black Barn boutique vineyard and Te Mata Estate, with New Zealand's oldest winery building. Sample some of the many superb wines produced here, including Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Riesling and Syrah. Afterwards cycle the last stretch on the way to the village centre where you can explore a number of cafes and boutique stores before your return transfer.
