Journey into the Heart of Middle Earth at the Hobbiton Movie Set for a Lord of the Rings encounter you won’t forget on a one day tour leaving Auckland.
We will pick you up from your hotel in our cosy mini-bus seating 12 and take you on a fully guided journey to Hobbiton past the pastoral Waikato countryside (the world’s most extensive agricultural area). The drive south takes you through fantastic scenery, breathtaking mountains, incredible photo opportunities, and a local population of farm animals.
Arriving at the sheep farm owned by the Alexander family, and the entrance to Hobbiton at Shire’s Rest, you’ll be blown away by the sight of thousands of sheep. While we collect your movie set tickets, you can grab some coffee, snacks or ice cream.
As a big green Hobbiton bus comes around, hop onboard for a 2 hour fully guided tour of this fascinating 12-acre movie set. Set foot on the verdant pastures of the Shire, peer into 44 Hobbit holes, admire blooming gardens, and learn the secrets and stories that went into the making of the movies as a professional Hobbiton guide leads you around. Finally, round out your experience with a well-earned cold beverage at the welcoming Hobbiton pub, the Green Dragon Inn.
You will be led back through the Alexander family sheep farm after the tour is over for one more stop at Shire’s Rest. Here you can buy souvenirs and have some snacks before leaving for Auckland.
