Hobbiton and Waitomo Caves Day Tour from Auckland

If you have a day in Auckland, why not visit two of North Island’s most iconic attractions – Hobbiton Movie Set and Waitomo Glowworm Caves. This Hobbiton and Waitomo Caves Day Tour from Auckland, New Zealand includes a fully guided tour of the Hobbiton Set with a delicious lunchtime feast at their Party Marquee. In the afternoon follows a guided tour and a boat ride through the glowworm caves.

We kick off early from Auckland, where you are picked up from your inner city accommodation. Whilst making our way through our destinations, full commentary will be provided, giving you insights into our destinations for the day.

Our first stop is Hobbiton, where a specialist will guide you around 44 hobbit holes. There are plenty of opportunities to take photos including a stop at Bilbo’s house “Bag End” that overlooks the whole set in the distance. Before the lunch feast, you will also enjoy a complimentary ale,  ginger beer, or cider at the Green Dragon Inn.

After lunch, we drive to Waitomo Caves where you will go on a walking tour and learn about the limestone formations and the glowworms. At the end of the tour is a boat ride through to the famous glowworm grotto (subject to water levels) where you can marvel at thousands of magical glow worms.

We then return to Auckland and stop for tea on the way (own cost).
