A reasonable level of walking fitness is required. Day 2 is the most demanding section, covering 19.5 kilometres while guests carry their own pack.
Food and bedding are supplied, helping keep pack weight below approximately seven kilograms when the recommended packing list is followed. The main pack is transported on selected later sections, allowing guests to walk with a lighter day pack.
Regular walking before departure is recommended, particularly on uneven tracks and over distances approaching 20 kilometres.
Deposit & Payment
- A deposit of NZ$600 is required at the time of booking.
- The final balance is due 100 days prior to departure.
Cancellation Policy
- More than 100 days from walk departure date: loss of deposit**
- Between 30 - 99 days: 50% of the total trip cost**
- Within 30 days/on show: no refund
- Once the walk has commenced no refund applies in any circumstance

The Hollyford Valley is a dynamic natural environment that presents certain hazards including, but not limited to; fast moving water ways, river hazards, rockfall, windfall, heavy rainfall, cold exposure, flooding, uneven terrain, slips, trips, fall and sun exposure. Serious injury or death is a possibility therefore agreeing to participate is your personal decision.
