Start your horseback riding adventure at our Auckland base where we pair you with a mount suitable to your experience and temperament. From here, we ride over sand dunes and down to the black volcanic sand of Muriwai Beach on the northwest coast of Auckland where the Tasman Sea is at its rawest, pounding on the shores to refine the beach even more.
Take in the rugged beauty of the coast from vantage points which are much easier to access because of your transport. Then head down to the beach where you and your horse could saunter to the water's edge as our guides capture these wonderful moments on camera. Muriwai Beach is immense, on the southern end of a coast that stretches unbroken for about 50 kilometres. You will have enough time and 2 kilometres of this space to frolic in the water or canter up and down the beach before we head back up to the sand dunes and continue into the canopied tracks of Woodhill Forest.
The tree line provides a comfortable riding environment and different sets of tracks depending on your riding ability, experience and amount of time available for this activity. There are one hour and 2 hour rides on offer, as well as beginner courses.
More experienced riders may want to take advantage of specially marked tracks at the Woodhill Forest Equestrian Park. From here, we ride back down to the beach and cross an estuary where your steed can have a drink while you freshen up or nibble trail snack. Take in the expansive scenery and listen to the pounding surf one last time as you climb the sand dunes and ride back to the stables.
