Collect your motorhome at the vehicle depot in Auckland and make your way to Whangarei, the gateway to New Zealand’s beautiful winterless north. Only a 2-hour drive from Auckland, Whangarei has lovely beaches within a stone's throw away, magical glow worm caves to explore, a waterfall right in the city centre and an awesome mountain to climb for epic views!

Have an ‘off the beaten track’ experience and camp on the beach in Matai Bay. Hike to St Paul's Rock, visit the Rainbow Falls, enjoy fish n’ chips at the Mangonui Fish Shop (according to many locals, New Zealand’s best fish n’ chips!) and discover the Hundertwasser Toilets (yes toilets!), designed by world famous artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser.

Make your way to Cape Reinga, the northernmost point of the North Island and for Māori, the most spiritually significant place in New Zealand. Enjoy spectacular sunsets and go sandboarding at Te Paki Giant Sand Dunes.

New Zealand has amazing native forests and there is no better place to explore them than the giant Kauri trees found in Waipoua Forest. It is an otherworldly experience to gaze up into the depths of their massive ecosystems towering above the forest canopy.

Tip: Take the ferry across Hokianga Harbour for a scenic route.

Piha, New Zealand’s most famous surf beach, has an incredible setting with Lion Rock standing proudly right in the middle of the beach. Catch the sunset at Piha Beach, visit the Muriwai Gannet Colony and explore the unique Karekare Beach, featured in the Oscar-winning movie The Piano.

The beaches at Whangapoua & New Chums are real gems along the Coromandel coastline. Visit New Chums Beach, only accessible by low tide, swing into the water at Whangapoua and drive the scenic 309 road to Waiau Falls, for lots of photography opportunities.

Climb aboard for a captivating one-hour railway journey and be inspired by the story of one man’s lifetime passion to bring Art, Conservation and Engineering together to create Driving Creek.

Hot Water Beach is a New Zealand institution. Dig a hole at low tide to enjoy a hot sandy spa and visit Cathedral Cove for a must do sunrise.

This is one of New Zealand’s favourite beach destinations. The Mount' as it's affectionately known, has some of the best swimming and surfing around. Climb to the The Mount for an unforgettable sunrise and visit the mystical Kaiate Falls.

Tamaki Maori Village

As the geothermal capital of New Zealand, Rotorua is fantastic for photography. Watch the sunrise at Lake Tarawera, take a walk in the undisturbed peace of the Redwood Forest and bath in the unique thermal waterfall setting of Kerosene Creek followed by a night marvelling at one of the best starry skies in New Zealand.  Then experience a journey back to a time of proud warriors and ancient traditions with Tamaki Māori Village, the most award-winning cultural attraction in New Zealand.

Te Puia, Skyline Gondola, Agrodome & Polynesian Spa Pools

Visit Wai-o-Tapu's Thermal Wonders and experience a wonderland of stunning geothermal activity. With your Diamond Pass you’ll get to experience Te Puia Geothermal Area, gondola ride to the top of Mt Ngongataha, the famous Agrodome Sheep Show and the award winning Polynesian Spa Pools.

Visit Huka Falls on your way to Waitomo which is close to Taupo. You’ll Stand in awe in the presence of NZ's most powerful waterfall, I'm always incredulous at the volume of water that rushes through here. It's one of those sights that is marvellous and mind-blowing and one that won't leave you for a long time.

Secret tip: stop past Tawhai Falls and you’ll see where they filmed Gollum’s fishing pool scene in Lord of the Rings.

Waitomo Glowworm Caves

Discover a place where time and space stand still. A true measure and timeless secret of Aotearoa, 30 million years in the making. You’ll travel deep underground hearing about the geological significance of the caves while you glide silently through the starry wonderland of the Waitomo Glowworm Grotto.

Hobbiton Movie Set Tour

Finally you will get to visit the official Hobbiton Village. Take photos during this 2 hour guided tour around the shire including Hobbit Holes, The Green Dragon Inn, The Mill and The Party Tree. Following this take a trip to The Blue Pools and be blown away by some of the clearest waters you’ll ever see. These waters are slowly filtered for 100 years and produce the purest water in NZ.
