- Certification to dive to a maximum depth of 18 metres / 60 feet
- Adult: 15 years +
- Children: 10-14 years
- Upon certification you will be qualified to dive with a buddy to 18 metres/60 feet.
- A Junior Open Water Certification is available for children aged between 10 and 14 years.
- For 10 and 11 year olds on certification you will be qualified to dive to 12 metres with a dive professional.
- For 12 to 14 year olds you are required to dive with an adult to a maximum of 18m.
You'll need to complete the operator's Understanding the Risks documentation before diving. As this is a dive-training course, you should also review the required medical form. Depending on your medical history and responses, you may need clearance from a doctor confirming you're fit to dive before taking part.
Theory & Digital Learning
There are two options for completing the theory component: work through the theory with an instructor or complete it online. You can begin the online study before arriving in Paihia using the SSI app, with lifetime access to your digital learning materials.
I accept that this activity inherently involves risks and potential hazards. The risks and hazards include, but are not limited to breathing compressed gas, marine traffic, marine life, decompression sickness, drowning, barotrauma, air embolism, decompression illness, dehydration, gas narcosis, malfunctioning equipment, ear problems, sun damage, hyperthermia, hypothermia, sea sickness, and adverse weather events.
Dive/Snorkelling trips are run in the outdoors on the ocean, so may be exposed to sudden natural disasters such as, but not limited to Tsunami, Earthquakes, Slips Landslides or Rock Falls, or Volcanic Eruption. I am aware that participating in the Diving/Snorkelling offered by Paihia Dive can be hazardous if they are not conducted with care, control, and responsibility. I acknowledge that these risks could result in my injury (physical or mental) or even death.
- Cancellations after booking: No Refund
- Changes to dates more than 7 Days before: No Amendment Fee
- Changes within 7 days: 50% Amendment Fee; free if we are able to fill your space
