Holiday with the entire family on a 7 Day Queenstown and Cardrona Family Ski Self-Drive Holiday in Wanaka, New Zealand! The Cardrona Alpine Resort is a family-friendly ski resort and features the most reliable snow conditions in the region, making it the perfect location to learn how to ski.

This ski holiday package includes for 2 days of skiing and lessons, plus the iconic Shotover jet boat ride and Skyline luge in the adventure capital of Queenstown.

Our Covid Policy

In light of the global impacts of COVID-19, we continue to work with our partners to provide the greatest client flexibility in an ever-changing climate. Where itineraries need to change due to COVID-19 restrictions we will waive our amendment fees and work closely with third-party suppliers so that they do the same. Any payments you have made will be put into credit and held in trust until you are ready to make plans to travel again.

Queenstown to Wanaka
Leaving Queenstown you head over New Zealand's highest sealed road, Crown Range Road before dropping into Wanaka.

Arrive into Wanaka and collect your lift pass
Welcome to Wanaka for your winter ski or snowboarding holiday. It’s not just the skiing that makes Wanaka a fantastic winter destination, there’s also the spectacular scenery, amazing adventures, and endless activities to keep you entertained when you’re not on the slopes. After each action-packed day, you’ll also find a superb variety of cafes and restaurants to relax and refuel at.


Today we recommend you visit the Cardrona Alpine Resort Office located at the corner of Helwick and Dunmore Streets and collect your lift pass. This will save you heaps of time tomorrow as you’ll avoid the morning queues and can head straight to the mountain with more time to ski and ride. When you visit the Cardrona Wanaka Office please take your Ski New Zealand itinerary with you as the staff will need the reference number off this. Each person in your group receives their own card and must collect their own card as your photo will be taken at the time of issue. All your lift passes, rental equipment, lessons, etc will be loaded onto your card.

Day 2Head to Cardrona Ski Resort

Cardrona Adult First Timer All Inclusive Package
Cardrona is perfect for first timer skiers and boarders with easy learner lift and wide open beginner trails with beautiful views. Package includes rental of ski or snowboard equipment, learner's area ski lift pass, two group lessons with a professional instructor. Your 2 hour morning lesson teaches the basics, including how to master sliding, stopping and turning safely and effectively on gentle slopes. The 2 hour afternoon lesson is to further develop your skills and to support you as you explore more terrain.

Day 3Continue the fun at Cardrona

Cardrona Single 1 Group Lesson, Lift Pass and Rental Package
If you have skied or snowboarded for more than one day and can 'stop and change direction', then this package is for you. You'll have access to the entire mountain with an all mountain lift pass, the benefit of a 2 hour group lesson and rental equipment. This package is coordinated to build a solid foundation so that you can make progress quickly. And rest assured you'll quickly remember the movements even if you only ever skied once, many years ago.

Day 4Travel back to Queenstown

Lavender Farm & Lakes Honey - suggested activity
Wanaka Lavender Farm is just a few minutes from Wanaka, where you can experience 10 acres of beautiful lavender fields and display gardens. Enjoy a walk through the flowers, meet friendly farm animals, relax over a cup of herbal tea and indulge in lavender and honey ice-cream. Sample Lakes Honey and the many Lavender products that are produced on site.

As there is nothing quite like this in the world we can only assure you that you will find the collection of amazing 3-D holograms fascinating! Carry on into the Ames Forced Perspective Room. The technique of this illusion was used in The Lord of the Rings film to create tall people and little people. Move on into the Hall of Following Faces illusion room where 168 giant models of famous faces seem to turn and follow you around the room. This illusion room offers visitors a world unique encounter of being followed left and right, up and down by some very illustrious company. The newest room, the Sculptillusion Room is themed around an illusionary sculpture garden, the gallery invites visitors to wander around the various larger-than-life exhibits that showcase visual trickery at its best. Day 5 A free day to explore Queenstown

Explore Queenstown and surrounds
Although celebrated as New Zealand's ‘adventure capital’ Queenstown offers far more than a fast paced action-packed holiday. Settled on the shores of Lake Wakatipu beneath a soaring panorama of the Remarkables Mountain Range, this alpine town is surrounded by a plethora of historic, gastronomic and scenic wonders.


Head down the Gibbston Valley wine trail to sample some of the region’s best Pinot or catch a ride on the 100 year old Steamship - the TSS Earnslaw - to Walter Peak Station for dinner and a farm tour. Browse the waterfront cafes and have lunch at Michelin star chef Josh Emett's ‘Rata.’ Check out nearby historic Arrowtown and enhance your experience with a four wheel drive trip to Macetown.


Take a leisurely lakeside stroll or ride the gondola for breathtaking views. Venture further afield into the Fiordland National Park or head over the Crown Range to Wanaka. For more thrills you can choose from jet boating, luging, bungy jumping or a canyon swing. If golf is your game, the exceptional Millbrook Golf Course is the place for you. Explore a little further afield - nearby historic gold mining township Arrowtown, is a popular destination and features many original buildings and features. At the head of Lake Wakatipu sits Glenorchy, the scenic drive here is worth the trip alone, however arriving into this peaceful township you could easily rest the day away. Nearby is the start of the Routeburn Track, one of New Zealand’s Great Walks. You can enjoy a section of this track as a day walk or for the ultimate wilderness adventure choose the 3 day all-inclusive fully guided option. To really appreciate the natural beauty that surrounds this area, a scenic flight or hot air balloon ride will take your breath away.
