Manupirua Bay’s hot pools are only accessible by water, making them a special retreat away from the crowds. These pools are some of New Zealand’s oldest geothermal treasures, offering a rich history alongside natural beauty. With seven pools to explore, there’s the perfect temperature for every mood, plus the lake itself for cooling off. Families love the playful touches like the slide and jetty jump, while loungers invite a slower pace. Add a picnic table by the water and a chilled drink from the café, and the scene is set for complete relaxation.

After about 90 minutes, it’s time to prepare for the flight back, using the changing rooms before the pilot calls. Taking off again from the lake’s surface adds one more burst of excitement to the day. The return flight offers one last chance to take in Rotorua’s beauty from above, rounding off an unforgettable Kiwi experience.
