Rotorua to Auckland via Hobbiton and Waitomo Caves

Travel from Rotorua to Auckland via Hobbiton and Waitomo Caves and visit two of North Island, New Zealand’s world-famous attractions: Hobbiton Movie Set and Waitomo Glowworm Caves. This day includes a guided tour of Hobbiton and Waitomo Caves, plus a lunch feast.

We start in Rotorua at 8 am, where you are picked up from your accommodation (inner city only). We then travel to our first destination, Hobbiton. Enjoy a full commentary along the way, learning a bit about today’s attractions.

Upon arrival in Hobbiton, you will be led by a specialist guide around the 44 hobbit holes in the farm. There are photo opportunities including Bilbo’s house, the “Bag End”, which overlooks the entire set in the distance. You will enjoy a complimentary ale, cider, or ginger beer before heading to the Party Marquee for a delicious lunch feast. Afterwards, we will give you a $10 voucher to spend at the Hobbiton gift shop!

Our next stop is at the famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves. Here you will go on a walking tour to learn about the limestones in the cave. Depending on the water level, the tour is followed by a boat ride along a dark tunnel that is home to thousands of magical glowing worms.

After our tour, we will travel back to Auckland with an optional afternoon tea (extra cost).

Handy Tip: Complimentary pick-up and drop-off services are available from inner-city hotels. Ensure you wear comfortable walking shoes and carry a warm jacket for the Waitomo Caves tour.
