Our comfortable 12-seater mini-bus will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to Rotorua on a fully guided journey through the idyllic Waikato countryside, the most extensively farmed area in the world. Stunning scenery awaits you on your trip south, and you will have plenty of fantastic photo opportunities as spectacular mountains come into view and you encounter adorable farm animals along the way. We also pass through the iconic town of Tirau, the world capital of corrugated iron sculpture, and the spectacular Fitzgerald Glade.
On reaching Rotorua, we will drive past many of the city’s well-known and historical sites like The Government Gardens, Thermal Springs, Blue Bath, the Polynesian Spa and Lake Rotorua. We then proceed to one of the most popular attractions in New Zealand, the Te Puia Geothermal Park. We enter the park and take a break for lunch. While there, we suggest you try the traditional Maori hangi meal.
We continue on with a fully guided tour of this fascinating park following lunch to view the geothermal and cultural gems it is famous for. Stand before the Pohutu Geyser, see geothermal vents and craters, admire Maori architecture, and visit a Maori craft school. You may even get to peek into a kiwi viewing house to see a kiwi bird.
Consider upgrading your tour to experience a traditional Maori concert including a powerful performance of the world-famous Haka.
Before driving back to Auckland, our guides will take you to town for some discounted souvenir shopping. Then it’s time for a fully guided journey back north. Alternatively, if you wish to stay longer in town, we can drop you off in Rotorua.
