Admire the lakes in a new light, acquire new skills, and make the most of our top notch paddle boarding equipment for a fantastic day out. T

o ensure you have the best experience we could offer, our knowledgeable guides will consider the day’s weather conditions into choosing the most suitable lake location just hours before the tour starts. If you would like us to customise a tour to suit your particular needs, let us know so we can arrange something special for you. Otherwise, our Stand-Up Paddle Tour is a fantastic activity for anyone above the age of five (with a guardian), and above 16 (without a guardian). A maximum weight of 105 kg applies.

Complimentary pick-up & return transfer from your accommodation in central Rotorua or from the Rotorua i-SITE at 1167 Fenton St. is available, making it convenient for you to join the tour at any of the following departure times that you are most comfortable with: 9AM, 12PM or 3PM. Tours operate daily. Leaving Rotorua, you will meet the rest of your small-group tour members and enjoy the unfolding scenery of The Redwoods-Whakarewarewa Forest & Lake Tikitapu while listening to the informative commentary during the 15-20 minute drive that will take you to your destination at any of the following: Lake Tarawera, Lake Okareka or Lake Tikitapu.

We love for you to have an incredible tour experience so our guides choose the most suitable lake location just hours before the tour, taking into account the day’s weather conditions.

  • Lake Tarawera offers magnificent views of Mount Tarawera whose 1886 massive eruption, one of the most explosive in New Zealand’s recent history, buried a local village.
  • Lake Okareka beckons exploration with its secret cave and rock formations. Taumaihi, an old Maori Pa site, stands on a peninsula that juts out into the heart of the lake.
  • Lake Tikitapu attracts swimmers and sunbathers with its shimmering blue waters and sun ray reflections. Its lush tree fern scenery makes it postcard-pretty.

You will be stand-up paddle boarding in no time with the help of our expert guides, and enjoying everything the lake has to offer during your one hour tour on the water. You ‘ll also have the chance to go for a swim, capture wonderful photos, survey the shorelines, and put your skills to test on stand-up paddle board tricks before reflecting back on the day’s events as you make the 15-20 minute drive back to Rotorua.

We supply all the top notch paddle boarding equipment you need. Bring your own swimwear (including warm swimwear like wetsuit), thermal clothing, sun protection, snacks and water, and waterproof camera. Wait and be ready for pick-up (with your swimwear already worn underneath) 15 minutes before the tour leaves.
