Get a close up look at the natural wonders and cultural influences of the Waitomo Caves and Rotorua with a fun-filled full day sightseeing tour.
Make your way north into the King Country region, which is home to the famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves. Explore these underground limestone caverns as you are taken on a 45-minute guided tour and learn all about hoe the fascinating stalactites, stalag and other interesting limestone rock formations came to be. Up next is probably the main highlight for many – a boat ride into the Glowworm Grotto. As you travel along the underground stream, you will notice all the tiny glowworms sparkling all around you.
A picnic-style lunch will be served on board the coach as you return to Rotorua. Vegetarian and other dietary options are available upon request. As you reach the outskirts of the city, you will get to experience some of the local farming industry on an all-terrain vehicle tour of the Agrodome. This working organic farm will provide you will some fascinating insight into the local agricultural industry as you witness a sheep-shearing demonstration and a sheep dog trial.
You will continue on to Te Puia where you will be entertained by a traditional Maori performance including singing and dancing. Hereafter, you will be taken on a tour of the Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley and get a closer look at the powerful active geysers and boiling mud pools.
