Skywire Adventure Experience: Nelson’s Ultimate Scenic Thrill Ride

The Skywire Adventure Experience is one of the world’s longest flying fox rides, soaring high above the native forest canopy at Cable Bay Adventure Park. Your adventure begins with a 4km shuttle ride through beautiful bush, where guides share stories about the local environment, unique flora, and cultural snippets. Arriving at the launch platform, perched 300 metres above the park, you’ll be greeted with sweeping views over Delaware Bay, D’Urville Island, Cable Bay and the distant Mt Arthur Ranges.

From your secure four-seat harness, the Skywire sends you flying forwards at speeds of up to 100kmph before returning backwards for a second burst of excitement. The ride covers 3.2km in total, with fast stretches followed by slower sections perfect for taking in the spectacular scenery. On a clear day, you might even spot Mount Taranaki across the strait, adding to the magic of this unforgettable journey.

A One-of-a-Kind Aerial Adventure Above Pristine Forest

The Skywire blends adrenaline and nature in a way that is uniquely Kiwi, offering both thrill-seekers and sightseers something truly memorable. As you glide over forested valleys and rugged terrain, you’ll experience the perfect mix of high-speed fun and peaceful airborne cruising. This dynamic ride is suitable for families, couples and friends, making it a must-do adventure near Nelson.

Weather conditions guide the operation of the Skywire, ensuring every ride is safe and enjoyable. When the winds are calm and the skies are clear, the views stretch far across the coastline and mountain ranges. With its combination of scenery, storytelling and exhilarating speed, the Skywire Adventure Experience is an unbeatable way to enjoy the natural beauty of Cable Bay from above.
