Overview
From Picton, on a Torea Bay to Mistletoe Bay Day Walk; take off on an adventure aboard one of our fleet with a cruise north through Queen Charlotte Sounds’ drowned river valleys in New Zealand, past dreamy bays where jetties extend into the glistening water. You may even spot some of the wildlife this unique region is famous for: orcas, dolphins, seals, albatross, penguins and gannets.
Learn more about the area as your skipper narrates its geology, history, flora and fauna. If time allows, your skipper may even get you closer to wildlife you pass along the way, notably playful dolphins who like to follow in the wake of the boat.
Marvel at the breathtaking scenery as you climb the main ridge connecting Kenepuru and Queen Charlotte Sounds and retrace old bridle paths through regenerating forest. Take time to admire the lush ferns and delicate orchids shaded by kanuka, kamahi, manuka and nikau palms, which also shelter fantails, silver eyes, weka and many other endemic birds.
As the track descends to Mistletoe Bay, look up at the beech trees and native tree ferns sheltering tui and bellbirds while listening to their liquid songs. Arriving at Mistletoe Bay, you will see why visitors love to picnic here. The colours of the sea are entrancing, and the waters are inviting for a swim. Make the most of your time here before your boat arrives at 3PM.
