From Wellington we set off at a relaxed pace for the Rimutaka Ranges through the Hutt Valley on your Private Wairarapa Full Day Tour. We take a break at the top to take in the views, then head down to the sedate town of Featherston before continuing south to Martinborough through pastoral New Zealand countryside dotted with cattle, sheep and deer.
We take a tour of Martinborough upon arrival, and proceed to visit a local winery if you are inclined. It’s a fantastic opportunity to try a range of the region’s finest wines including the renowned Pinot Noir variety. Pushing south, we stop at the historic Lake Ferry pub to enjoy traditional Kiwi-style fish n chips.
After lunch we follow the coastline to the dreamy fishing village of Ngawi for a closer look at the local seal population that includes grey fur seals and their pups. We push further south, sticking to the wild Southern Coast, around to the light house at Cape Palliser and burn off lunch with 254 steps to the top. We drive back to Wellington and stop for some afternoon drinks on the way home.
