Cruise across Lake Wakatipu on the TSS Earnslaw, before disembarking at Walter Peak High Country Farm to a warm kiwi greeting. At Walter Peak Station you will obtain a taste of New Zealand’s farming lifestyle.
The Walter Peak High Country Station is superbly located on Lake Wakatipu’s south-western shoreline, and is the ideal place to spend a relaxing few hours. When you go ashore from the TSS Earnslaw your rural host will meet you and take you for a walking tour of the farmyard.
Visit the holding pens, where you can get up close to the Scottish Highland Cattle and help feed the sheep and deer. Then you will meander through the lakeside gardens to the delightful Colonel’s Homestead for a traditional high country morning or afternoon tea of delicious scones and pikelets.
Next you walk over to the shearing shed, where you can observe the farm dogs rounding up sheep from the hill paddocks, and see the farmer shear a sheep. Whilst there, try your hand at spinning wool on a loom, before boarding the TSS Earnslaw back to Queenstown.
